Terry Bradshaw's Story |

 |
Pro-football Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw describes his private battle with depression and how treatment helped him focus on the things that matter:
|
"Not even four Super Bowl wins can compare to the sense of accomplishment I feel for overcoming my lifelong struggle with depression. Reaching out for help is by far one of the best things I have done."
On the field, he was one of the greatest football players in NFL history. On TV, he's a witty sports commentator. But out of the public eye, Terry Bradshaw privately battled depression.
His silent struggle began when he was in college at Louisiana Tech and continued through his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Undiagnosed, his condition worsened until he was barely able to function. The emotional strain eventually contributed to the end of three marriages.
Finally, Terry asked for help and was diagnosed with depression. And with the right treatment, his life started getting better. Here's what he had to say:
"With depression, I had always had problems focusing along with my low mood. I suffered from terrible panic attacks and was unable to concentrate. With the help of therapists, counselors, and the medication they prescribed for me, Paxil CR, my depression improved and I can pay attention to the elements of my life that are important."
